Monterey Park is a large NE Calgary suburban community located on the east edge of the city, south of McKnight Boulevard and situated along Stoney Trail. This long shaped community incorporates 3.4 square kilometres with 10,703 residents and 3,112 dwellings. Monterey Parks homes for sale typically single family detached homes with 79% of the housing share and 2,446 individual houses. No remaining housing type takes more than 5% of the share. As of 2014, 17% of the housing was used for renting putting this community as largely made up of homeowners. With the community’s long shape, a sense of space is created with many of the homes backing into the open prairie areas. Greenspace and open area are interspersed throughout the area with a population density a full thousand people less per square kilometre compared to nearby communities. Homes here were constructed in late 1980s as the community began development in 1985. Houses here are typical of the 80s suburban style. Connectivity to major routes and the sense of space is an attractive element to homebuyers.
Monterey Park is bounded by McKnight Boulevard NE on the north, Stoney Trail on the east, 16th Ave NE on the south, and 68th St NE on the west.
