Midnapore Community Information
Midnapore was originally an unincorporated hamlet with a rail connection to Calgary. In 1961 Midnapore was annexed by the city of Calgary and it was established as a community in 1977, following the ‘lake community’ model set by the Lake Bonavista community. Its history as a separate hamlet to Calgary is preserved with a replica of its original train station – the replica functions as the Fish Creek – Lacombe LRT Station. The historic St. Paul’s Anglican Church still stands next to MacLeod Trail – originally built in 1885, this church gives Midnapore a charming link to the past that few other Calgary neighbourhoods can match.
