Chaparral is one of the 4 new Calgary communities located south of the Stoney Trail ring road, located on the extreme south edge of the city. It’s located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Stoney Trail and MacLeod Trail – giving this community excellent access into and out of the city.

Downtown is 25 minutes away by car via Deerfoot Trail. It’s connected by the 78 and 178 bus routes to the Somerset LRT station on the Red Line, providing convenient access up the MacLeod Trail commercial corridor up to downtown.

Calgary International Airport is 27 minutes away by car.

Chaparral Health Access

The nearest major hospital is the South Health Campus Hospital, located 10 minutes away by car. The Alberta Children’s Hospital is 30 minutes away by car.

Chaparral Shopping and Amenities

Chaparral is connected directly to Fish Creek Provincial Park, a gem among Calgary’s many wonderful green spaces, and is by extension well connected to the fabulous Bow River Pathway system.  The community itself has a dozen individual parks and green spaces, meaning a quiet spot on the grass or playground for the kids is never far away.

Chaparral’s connection to golf courses is difficult to beat, with McKenzie Meadows Golf Club, Blue Devil Golf Club, Sirocco Golf Club, Heritage Pointe, and more all within a very short driving distance.  

This community has very convenient access to the Shawnessy Shopping Centre and the Southcentre Mall, both easily accessible off of MacLeod Trail.

Chaparral’s amazing location on the city’s west end gives it great access to both the urban benefits of Calgary, as well as the amazing outdoor lifestyle options southern Alberta has to offer.  Bragg Creek and Kananaskis Country are just over half an hour away off of Highway 22X, which Stoney Trail turns into.  Weekend getaways to nature couldn’t be easier.  When the SW leg of the Stoney Trail ring road is completed in the next few years, access to the TransCanada Highway and the incredible Rocky Mountain national parks will be a breeze!
